If I Ever Were to Lose You
This is Part 1 in a series of blogs on my favorite duologies in video games.
On October 31, 2010, “The Walking Dead” TV series premiered on AMC and the mass population’s perception of comic books changed overnight.
My 151 (2023)
A little over three years ago, I made a post on social media entitled “#My151.” It was the culmination of a fairly innocuous idea that came to me one day in my mid-twenties.
My 151 (2019)
The following was originally posted elsewhere on October 13, 2019 in celebration of my 30th birthday.
TL;DR: I decided, after catching all 800+ Pokémon, to make a list of the 151 Pokémon that would constitute a perfect Pokémon game for me.
Ruling Autism In or Out
Have you ever been presented with a scenario in which you questioned every single moment of your life? I think reflecting on specific moments or aspects are fairly common, but is it even possible to reconsider every memory?
My Year of Progress
I’m probably more like your kids, nieces & nephews, or your students, in that the primary source of my daily entertainment comes from YouTube.
Welcome to Sly History
Allow me to introduce you to Sly History, a website and podcast working together to explore the history of those in my life through the lens of their interests and influences.
“You’re Not a Teacher Anymore”
My wife said this to me last week in the middle of a conversation. It wasn’t accusatory, nor was it the focus of the dialogue.
A Weekend of Progress
Last weekend was my birthday present to myself that I have been waiting on for months. I spent two nights in a hotel about 40 minutes from home, and just focused on the book.
Confession Time
I feel it is time to come clean about something. One of those secrets that no one seems to relate to. It's not one of those popular things that you see in book stores, in movies, on tv shows, or talked about in podcasts.
Nothing Livens Up the Night Quite Like An Existential Crisis
For those that read "A Reflection," you know that I decided to look into my attention issues back in May by getting a psych evaluation done.
The Outline Begins
As I have done in the past, multiple times, I have restarted my outline (a more detailed description of why can be found under "The Reflection"). However, this time around I am making it public so it feels more official.
1-Year Anniversary
I procrastinated.
Although, not entirely.
I didn’t put off writing, but rather I focused on writing other things. Mostly plot points for Dungeons and Dragons.
A Change in Plans
"What do you mean I said chapter 2 was going to be titled 'The Funeral?' I never said that. It was always going to be 'The L-Bo,'" he lied.
Chapter 1 Revisions
Over the last two weeks, I have found myself frequently thinking back on Chapter 1. I have not read it since I completed it, but instead have tried to focus on writing Chapter 2
The Opening Image
In my first post in the summer of 2020 (The Purpose), I mentioned the book "Save the Cat Writes a Novel." In that book, it walks you through how all successful stories are structured. The first part is called "The Opening Image.”
New Year. New Draft.
And thus it begins.
No longer can I simply start and restart the book, scrap everything, and postpone. I am committing to finishing this book. I have no idea how long it will take, or even how many chapters I am aiming for.
The Purpose
It is of little surprise to most who know me that it has been my dream for years to write a book. Me, a storyteller? Crazy, I know.
