Planning - Rachel’s Roll & Sort
This is not the first time my wife, Rachel, has rolled the Story Cubes, but this is the first time she has sorted them. I gave her the option to do as much of the prep work as she felt comfortable with, including telling me any character names, plot requirements, or what the symbols on the dice meant.
Planning - The Mystery Date
It feels good to be back at the keyboard again, even though I definitely struggled today. My last post was exactly two months ago, just a few days before my wife gave birth to our first born. Our son was born on July 11th and has left me pretty braindead ever since.
Planning - A Heist in the Family
For the first time, my wife rolled the dice for me. I got a couple of repeats this time around (parachute, arrow, and sheep), but I tried to approach them in a slightly different way. So, instead of being a imaginary parachute like in #2, there is an actual parachute jump. See, totally different.
Planning - Death of a Magician
After how easily story #2 came to me, this dice roll caught me by surprise. I'm sure this is why my wife keeps telling me that I don't need to use all nine dice, but I think I will continue to force myself to work them all into each story.
Planning - A Flight Gone Wrong
This marks my first use of the Story Dice. I rolled the 9 dice and gave myself 15 minutes to come up with a way to connect them and tell a story. Obviously, I couldn't help but be inspired by the day when picking the subject.
Planning - Don’t Judge a Book by Its Cover
I hope y'all enjoyed this first short story. It was a little easier to write because it is a memory. Not a direct memory of course, as I changed student names and "Tina" and her friends weren't the ones to bring me The Martian, nor was it the next day.
